Swimming at Neston

Swimming is an exercise that is open to everyone and as a non-weight bearing activity; it is one of the better ways to get fit.  At Neston Recreation Centre we ensure that there is something to satisfy everyone’s needs, offering swimming lessons, adult swimming lanes through to more relaxed family fun swim sessions.

Group Swimming Lessons - Enrolment Dates

We run a wide range of swimming courses for all ages and abilities throughout the year during term time, mirroring the school term dates. All lessons follow the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming, which provides an excellent standard of instruction within a structured framework of stages 1 – 7.  Courses allow adults and children to reach their full potential from beginners to competition level swimming following through to personal survival.

Swimming Lessons – Enrolment

New Enrolment
If you or your children are not currently enrolled on a course, you will need to enrol as of the new enrolment dates sated in the table.  You will need to bring 1 passport sized photograph when booking onto a new course.  Simply drop into the centre on the specified new enrolment date and book onto the course.

Re-enrolment
If you or your children are currently on a course you will need to re-enrol for the next course.  You will receive a course development slip towards the end of your existing terms lessons to allow re-enrolment for the next term.  If your child misses the enrolment lesson, reception will hold your re-enrolment slip until the next lesson for you to enrol.  Once enrolled, simply turn up on time on the first day of your course and your teacher will take care of everything.

Swimming Lessons - Session Guidelines
Courses operate throughout the year during term time mirroring the school term dates.

Courses consist of half hour lessons, depending on the level; there are between 8 and 20 pupils in a class.

Personalised one-to-one half hour lessons are also available on a 6/7 week course basis giving individual coaching to pupils.  Please contact reception for details and enrolment onto one-to-one courses.

The Tots Swimming Lessons are an introduction to water awareness for younger children.  Parents should be aware that a child cannot progress to a stage 1 class until they are confident in the shallow end of the pool which has a depth of 3ft, so that head and shoulders are clearly above the water.  The child must be confident in the water without armbands.

Parents are requested to stay in the building during the child’s lesson.  Parents of children on Tots swimming courses should remain in the bar or café area as they may be called to poolside.

No outdoor shoes maybe worn on the poolside for health and safety reasons.

If a lesson is cancelled as a result of a technical breakdown, or if the pool has to be closed due to an incident, which may have contaminated the water, a credit or swim voucher will be given.

Refunds for courses may be given under the following circumstances:

(i)   The person cannot attend anymore due to a medical condition; a letter from the doctor or hospital must support this.  The refund will only be given from the date of notification, not when they stopped attending.

(Iii)  If a customer requests a refund because they have decided they do not want to attend anymore, it can only be given if we re-sell the place and the refund will be given for the remaining lessons from the date of the re-sell.
