The Northgate Arena prides itself in being a family and children friendly Leisure Centre.
We have devised a number of services and facilities that underline our belief and are constantly looking at ways to add and improve them.

The design of the leisure pool means that it is an ideal and safe environment for children off all ages. It starts from a beach section and rises gradually until it reaches its optimum depth.
Children can swim unaccompanied from 8 years of age. However all children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult aged 16 or above. Adults can only be responsible for a maximum of 2 children under the age of 8, however if any are under the age of 5 then a quick risk assessment will need to be carried out at reception before you can enjoy your swim.
We want to encourage children to start swimming as early as possible and so devised our popular Aspire scheme. It is essentially a flexible teaching programme that promotes individual progress and improved performance. It is divided into four groups and the two designed for children are the Ducklings and the Water Wizards.
Each of the group’s programme follows the Amateur Swimming Association national Plan and has a series of achievement awards to work through.
Ducklings is for under 4s and designed to develop confidence in the water, independent mobility and basic survival techniques.
Water Wizards is for 4 year olds and up and depends on the individuals requirements. However it provides all round improvement on stroke technique, confidence and water competence.

We want to give everyone the chance to enjoy themselves and that if parents know their children are happy then they will enjoy using the Arena’s facilities even more. Our crèche is open Monday to Friday from 9.30am until 12.30 and provides a warm, friendly environment for children from 0 to 8 years old. It is run by experienced and qualified staff who work on a ratio of 1 staff to 3 children and is inspected & licenced by OFSTED, so every child is well looked after*.
*The crèche is only for use by Northgate Arena customers who must be on site whilst the child is in our care.
Places are limited to fifteen so it is advisable to book.

There are several activities for parents and toddlers.
On a Tuesday and Thursday morning the Arena open up the sports hall and provides an indoor playground with a bouncy castle and various dry playing activities.
The sessions run from 9.30am until 11.30 and gives parents a chance to sit and relax whilst the children play in a safe and friendly environment.
The Prices are
£2.00 for adult & child and 50p for additional children, with complimentary
toast served in the Revive café after the session.
For more of a splash there is Toddlers swimming club that is held at the Arena Monday to Friday from 9.30am until 12.00.
